Montrose, Iowa | Live Music & Dinner Series Above the Mississippi River
Bluff Sessions 2026 in Montrose Iowa Event Details
Bluff Sessions — formerly known as Summer Serenades — returns to 1884 On The Bluff in Montrose, Iowa for the 2026 season with three thoughtfully curated evenings of live music, locally prepared dinners, and relaxed gatherings inside our restored barn and hoop barn.
Perched 180 feet above the Mississippi River, 1884 On The Bluff has quietly become known for intimate events that feel both elevated and unhurried. Bluff Sessions is our signature live-music dinner series — small crowd, good food, live music — designed for people who want an easy night out without the noise of a big production.
Last summer, guests traveled from across Iowa and beyond to attend what Sara Boers of Travel With Sara called “her favorite thing she did in Iowa” during a Des Moines radio segment. What began as Summer Serenades has grown into Bluff Sessions — a series rooted in connection, comfort, and the kind of evenings people remember long after the last song ends.
What Makes Bluff Sessions Different?
Bluff Sessions isn’t a festival.
It isn’t a loud outdoor concert.
It isn’t a crowded event where you fight for a seat.
It’s structured freedom.
Dinner is handled.
Music is handled.
The setting is handled.
You simply arrive down a quiet gravel road, step into a glowing historic barn, and let the evening unfold.
Each night features:
• A small, intentionally limited crowd
• Live music close enough to feel
• A thoughtfully prepared, comfortable dinner menu
• Bar service with signature cocktail options
• Non-alcoholic selections available
• Time to walk the property as golden hour settles over the Bluff
It’s the kind of plan where the plans are simple.
